Frugal Friday #3

Hi everyone!

*if you are looking for this week's posts, please scroll down*

Thank you to the three of you who entered my second Frugal Friday challenge...you are all my top 3!
Huge congrats on using your stash ladies, I hope you'll play again this week! :)

So onto this week's card, and the picture of my scraps...

I think I'm getting more, not less!

Did you spot the bits I used? I punched out the sentiment (hiding under a strip of pink card) using the Decorative Label punch, then added the strips of Afternoon Picnic DSP and the fussy cut Stippled Blossoms flower.

I scored either side of each of the strips of DSP to give them a raised look. I CASEs my card from Kate's entry into my first challenge...I really like the way to use the DSP...thanks for the inspiration Kate!

These scraps are left from my Sketch Saturday card this week...do pop back tomorrow to see it.

Hearts a Flutter Anniversary

Hello and happy Thursday!
It is new sketch day at CAS - Colours and Sketches and it is sketch week. Here is the sketch I designed for our challenge...

Although there is a heart as the main shape, feel free to use any shape you like :)

So....here is my card....

I decided to dig out something I haven't used for ages...my Very Vintage Stampin' Around Wheel! I have a few of these wheels and I always seem to forget about them! The great thing about these is that if you add an ink cartridge you can stamp continuously for ages! But you can still used them with just an ink pad too, which is what I did here with my Wisteria Wonder ink. I then scored top and bottom to highlight the panel a little.

The hearts are from the Hearts A Flutter set and I fussy cut them, then inked them in Raspberry Ripple, using Sponge Daubers. The Flowering Flourishes is also stamped in Wisteria Wonder, and the sentiment is Smoky Slate. I finished with Liquid Pearls (non-SU)

Lots of butterflies!

Morning all!
I have a card that isn't a thank you card for a change!

I have used one of my all time favourite stamp sets, Papillon Potpourri for this card, stamping the butterflies onto vellum, in Pool Party and Midnight Muse. I also used one of the Best Of Butterflies as it goes with the Elegant Butterfly punch too.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Pairs and is also in Midnight Muse. The aperture was cut using the Chalk Talk Framelits. I think it really makes the sentiment stand out, don't you? I have CASEd the idea from Margaret and this card. It is something I have done in the past but sometimes you just need reminding of different techniques, especially when there really are so many out there!

Supplies
Cardstock - Midnight Muse, Pool Party, Whisper White, Vellum
Stamps - Papillon Potpourri, Best Of Butterflies, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink - Midnight Muse, Pool Party
Tools - Simply Scored

Tealight Candle Card Tutorial

Hello!
I had a couple of people ask me for a tutorial to the Candle box card I made last week. Now if you know me, I'm not fab at these sort of things, but I'll do what I can...I aim to get better!

Ok, so you need to start with a piece of card sized 37.5cm x 18.5cm

Place the card with the long side at the top onto your Simply Scored Board with the 'cm' scoring plate in position. Score at 1cm, 3cm, 7cm and 9cm. Then turn the card so the short side is at the top and score at 1cm, 3cm, 15.5cm and 17.5cm. Only score up to the horizontal 9cm score line. The following picture should help (I hope!)

The areas that are shaded need to be cut out, eventually.

Next, turn to the opposite short side, and measure 3cm in from each edge, then draw a line to the 3cm score line at the other end.
This is how it should look...

Now you can remove all the shaded areas, and cut the flaps as shown in this next picture...

The final score line is best done whilst the box part is folded up, but not stuck down. Push it right up to the edge of the Score It Board and score at 16.5cm to make your card part.

Now is the time to cut out the window in your box any shape you like, and decorate before sticking it down.

Then you just have the card part to make and you're done!

I really hope this helps you, and if you need any further help, please feel free to contact me or leave a comment and I promise to email you back.

Pop back later this week to see another, quite different version of this card :)

A Handmade Flower, or Two! (using Mosaic Punch)

Hello!
How are you today?
I have finally got round to entering this week's challenge at Less Is More! The theme is

HANDMADE FLOWERS

I LOVE flowers and using them in one way or another on my cards so I thought I would have a go at something I have been meaning to try...

From the minute I saw the Mosaic punch I just knew it would make fab flowers. And I was right!

I stamped and punch 5 'petals' from the Mosaic Bundle, using Calypso Coral cardstock and Basic Black Ink, and arranged them as above. The centre is another handmade flower using the brilliant Simply Pressed Clay. I have a selection of white clay flowers and buttons just ready to colour using my Stampin' Write Markers...I can match them to any project this way!

The scoring was created using my Simply Scored tool and the paper piercing used the Paper Piercing Essentials pack. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners set, cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.

Supplies
Cardstock - Whisper White, Calypso Coral
Stamps - Itty Bitty Banners, Mosaic Madness
Ink - Basic Black
Punches/Dies - Bitty Banners Framelits, Mosaic Punch
Tools - Simply Scored, Paper Piercing Essentials Pack
Other - Simply Pressed Clay, Simply Pressed Silicone Moulds, Pearls from stash
Ribbon - Basic Black Taffeta
